With unemployment and inflation rising, stock indexes drooping and less than 100 days to go until Nov. 4, both campaigns seemed to awaken Monday to the realization that the economy--not Iraq--may decide the election. According to a just-released Gallup poll, a stunning 75% percent of Americans have negative views about the economy. Obama and McCain will spend most of the next three and a half months fervently fighting over who has the better remedy.
